“Guess we still have some love for each other, we just don’t like each other very much.”

(“By the way, Chuck,” Miles asks from across the room. “Why do you think Meredith has never remarried?”)

“Wow, that’s quite the question to wake me up.” I answered, pouring my coffee. “Where’d that come from?”

“Sorry, Mate. You’ve got a book here on the table that is about the San Diego Zoo – made her come to mind. You know, just wondering. She is certainly still quite attractive. You’d think somebody would have snatched her up by now. How long has it been, ten years?”

“No. More like almost twelve,” I answered, starting to get a little irritated at the subject matter. “I’d like to think it’s because she just can’t find my equal, but I think it’s probably more due to how busy she is, and how committed she is to her work.”

“Ok, I’ll drop it Mate,” Miles apologized. “Couldn’t help but over-hear part of one of your phone calls the other day. Just seemed like there was still some affection mixed-in.”

“Oh that’s ok,” I answered, taking a long sip of coffee. “Guess we still have some love for each other, we just don’t like each other very much.”
