“He feels we should use a ‘baited’ cage with foot snares set on the outside.”

(“Definitely dangerous work, but nothing compared to three man-eaters roaming wild.”)

He does have experience with the big cats outside the game parks. I believe the techniques we discussed, and his suggestions are still valid, though. Like us, he feels we should use a ‘baited’ cage with foot snares set on the outside. Obviously, we need to have tranquilizer rifles ready to sedate any trapped lion. He recommends, since it is unlikely that the lion trio will enter any cage together, that we use two cages set-up side by side. He offered one recommendation that  I’d like to follow. Instead of using traps with traditional foot or ‘weight’ activated door releases, he suggests radio, remote control releases. The doors close faster and we control the release. We don’t run the risk of the lion not triggering the trap and missing the opportunity.”
