“Are you in danger? Do you need me?”

I grab the radio, “Yes, yes, Makali. You ok?”

“Yes, Bwana. Found chui (leopard) tracks by water. Fresh tracks, Bwana. This morning. Think still nearby.”

“Oh man. Don’t track him, Makali. We don’t need any new adventure today. Are you in danger? Do you need me?”

“No, Bwana. Tracks lead away from water and from house. Me ok.”

“Good. Maybe head back, ok?”

“Yes, Bwana.”

“Ok”

“Damn. I knew it,” I said out loud.

“Knew what?” Miles asked as he entered the room.

“Oh, hey. Makali just radioed that he found fresh leopard tracks by the waterhole. I was just exclaiming to myself, that I sure thought we had one or two in the neighborhood.”
