“…not realizing that the smell could attract animals.”

They will have to camp for the night. Dr. Apopo parks his Range Rover under some trees, next to a small clearing. By radio, he calls the ranch headquarters to notify them of their location and their decision to camp for the night. Ogwambi has spent a lot of time in the outdoors. He will make a campfire and prepare the food for dinner. There is plenty of firewood close by. They setup camp close to a fallen acacia tree with lots of twigs and dry limbs. Without a tent, they will sleep in the Range Rover . Being resourceful, boxes of supplies are stacked together to create two seats and a makeshift table. They sit and discuss the days’ activities while waiting for the fire to burn down enough to be able to start cooking. Ogwambi, wraps hamburger meat, potatoes, onions, and carrots in foil and places them on coals he pulls from the campfire. They both joke and comment about how wonderful it smells, not realizing that the smell could attract animals.
